Combustible waste

The following waste can be sorted as combustible waste:

·       plastic items

·       dirty plastic packaging

·       wet and dirty cardboard and paper

·       disposable containers

·       textiles that are not suitable forthe discarded textiles collection (wet, moldy or strongly smelling textiles),shoes, bags, rubber and leather

·       hygiene items: diapers, pads,make-up, razors, brushes

·       office supplies: folders, plastic pockets, CDs and DVDs

·       cat litter, dog excrement bags and animal litter

·       ashes, cigarette butts

·       vacuum cleaner bags

·       single items of light bulbs,ceramics, porcelain and glassware

·       bio-waste, if you do not have a composter or have access to a separate bio-waste container

Where can I placecombustible waste??

The combustible waste is placed in the combustible waste bin at home. Bulky combustible waste can be brought to the recycling stations; items that do not fit in the waste bin at home (i.e. carpets, skis, plastic chairs). You can leave a maximum of 3 m³ of combustible waste at the recycling station at a time. Larger quantities are delivered to the waste centre in Teuva.

What happens to the combustible waste?

The combustible waste is incinerated at the waste-to-energy plant Westenergy where it is converted into electricity and district heating.
